Hello! My name is Evan Shotts, and I am a scholarship-winning multimedia journalist from Fort Wayne, IN. I have been reporting the news since 2021.
I, by nature, am a storyteller. I am driven by a passion for capturing and sharing the voices of everyday people. I believe that every individual, no matter who they are, has a story worth telling, and my work is dedicated to bringing those stories to light. Even to the ones who may otherwise not have a platform to be heard.
Currently, I am an undergraduate student studying news and journalism at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. Here, I have gained hands-on experience working with both my university’s news program, NewsLink Indiana, and PBS program, Cardinal Compass: Campus and Community Conversations. Through these programs and my classes, I have developed strong skills in journalism, storytelling, and multimedia production while learning the importance of accuracy, empathy, and community-based reporting.
